WHAT DO YOU OFFER TO GOD?

Hello friends, how do you do? Its another beautiful day and i believe God is doing beautiful things in our lives, Hallelujah! Our message for today is a question that we all must answer in all honesty. My people (Ndi Igbo) say that 'when you greet the king for what he has done, he will do more.' Our bible reading today interestingly deals with the different types of offering one is expected to offer to God.
Our Bible reading is from Numbers 28:1-end and our memory verse is from Numbers 28:31 "Besides the continual burnt offering and its cereal offering, you shall offer them and their drink offering. See that they are without blemish." In our reading today, the Lord said to Moses, he should command the children of Israel to always offer their offerings in its due season. In the passage we see the different types of offering and they are;

  1. The offering by fire - Numbers 28:3
  2. The offering for the sabbath day - Numbers 28:9
  3. The offering for the beginning of the month - Numbers 28:11
  4. The passover offering - Numbers 28:16
  5. The first fruit offering - Numbers 28:26
In our memory verse, the Lord made it clear that the offering must be without blemish. We all remember the story of Cain and Abel, how Abel's offering was without blemish and Cain's offering was with blemish. The Lord had respect unto Abel and unto his offering but unto Cain the Lord had no respect - Genesis 4:4-5.
The message today is a question and as a matter of fact we really need to sit back and check if we have been offering to God sacrifices with blemish or not. You must note that sacrifices can come as money, material or service, so whichever one we prefer, have they been without blemish or not? As humans, when someone gives you a carelessly used item as a gift, how do you feel? Or when someone gives you a help that compounds your problem, how do you feel? If we humans do not feel good when we are given gifts with blemish, then imagine how God feels.
And one may ask, what is blemish? It is a mark of deformity or injury, it can be physical or moral. Blemish can also be defined as anything that diminishes the beauty or renders imperfect that which is well formed. By this definition we can say that offerings with blemish are the following;

  1. Money that is physically damaged.
  2. Offering that is intangible considering the blessings of God in one's life.
  3. Offering to God ill gotten wealth and money.
  4. Offering made with grudges.
  5. Offering made to show off.
  6. Offering made with malice.
I therefore ask you my beloved, what do you offer to God? Life is governed by principles, that is why what you sow is what you reap, what you give is what you receive. The offerings we make to God either in material or in service determines what comes to us from God. Remember it was the sacrifice that Solomon offered to God that caused God to bless him with wisdom and wealth - 1Kings 1:4-5. Be mindful what you offer to God.
Till i come your way again, remain blessed.
