Hello everyone, good morning! I greet you all in Jesus name. I am grateful to God for the miracle of sleeping and waking up and i do not take it for granted, am also grateful to God for the revelation of His word and i pray that as you come in contact with this word that you will be richly blessed.
Today's message is powerful and serves as a warning. our Bible reading is from Numbers 12:1-end and the memory verses are Numbers 12:6-8 "And He said, 'hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision, I speak with him in a dream. 7 Not so with my servant Moses; he is entrusted with all my house. 8 With him, I speak mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in dark speech; and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"
Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
Which God's servant are you speaking against?
Dealing with the spirit of contempt is a very serious issue especially in these last days where there are so many people claiming to be God's servant. What does it mean to be contemptuous? To be contemptuous means manifesting or expressing contempt or disdain. It means to be scornful, haughty or insolent. Bearing this definition in mind, it is therefore easy to understand what the spirit of contempt is and its workings. The spirit of contempt is judgmental and easily condemns. In our Bible reading this morning we see how Aaron and Miriam judged and condemned Moses for marrying a Cushite and as such questioned if God truly spoke to him. It will interest you to know that this incident happened forty years after Moses had led the children of Israel out of the land Egypt passing through the middle of Red sea, after God has fed them with manner in the wilderness of Sinai for forty years. They witnessed all that the Lord did to the children Israel through Moses and they still questioned if God truly spoke to Moses just because Moses is married to a cushite woman.
The spirit of contempt debases one, it withdraws one's sense of reasoning and it is a terrible spirit to contend with. This spirit when it gets into one and succeed in manipulating the person kindles God's anger against that person as we can see in the reading Numbers 12:9-10. Little wonder we are warned in 1 Chronicles 16:22 and Psalm 105:15 "Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm." I believe Miriam story is a clear case of the consequence. Also the spirit of contempt is not only after the men of God, it is also after instituted authorities, we must know that it is also God that places people in position of power, that was demonstrated clearly in the case of Nebuchadnezzar. Therefore people of God rather than be contemptuous towards the Men of God and people in places of authority we should always pray for them.
Thus, to deal with the spirit of contempt one should find the purpose for which God has brought him/her to life and pay attention to it. Secondly, one should always pray for people in places of authority and God's servants in their midst.
Till i come your way again, remain blessed and bind the spirit of contempt.
